Accessibility Standards - an overview

Accessibility describes the degree to which a product, device, or service is available to as many people as possible; encompassing people with a broad range of abilities and impairments. In the context of this document, it is about making IT accessible to people with all abilities.

Accessibility is a requirement under the Equality Act 2010 in the UK and similar laws in many other countries.

This document is a brief overview of information technology (IT) Accessibility Standards which readers can apply in their own organisation. It outlines the major standards so that readers can decide which are relevant to their organisation’s needs.
