Case study: Barclays become first bank to launch SignVideo service in branches

Barclays are the first bank to offer live British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter
services in over 1,400 branches nationwide.

Teaming up with SignVideo, Barclays’ deaf customers can now enter their local bank branch and communicate face-to-face with an onscreen advisor in BSL if that is their preferred communication method.

The launch comes 2 years after Barclays introduced its first generation SignVideo service available as an online tool. Since 2013, deaf customers have been able to visit the Barclays website where they can connect via video call to a BSL interpreter at SignVideo who relays the conversation to the Barclays advisor and vice versa back to the customer.
