Procurement protocol for accessible technology

The Procurement protocol developed by our Technology Taskforce includes the following details:

A ‘Charter’/Executive Declaration which informs those in the business who make purchasing decisions (such as HR selecting online recruitment software) that they must make accessibility a mandatory consideration. It is phrased as a letter from the CEO or other senior executive.

Some open and exploratory questions designed to help both purchasers and procurement specialists to have the structured conversation with potential suppliers which makes it easier to determine if their products/services are likely to be accessible/usable.

A menu of product category requirements together with best practice examples, going beyond mere compliance with legal/technical standards. These will help parties, the customer and supplier, to assess particular products against acknowledged best practice before taking decisions.
